Technical Associate

VIDO Beef and Swine Technical Associate

The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) Swine Technical Group and VIDO Beef Technical group together have one part-time position for a technical associate. The position is for up to 3 years with a 6-month probationary period. Defined project objectives with flexible hours, and the potential for some work from home are hallmarks of this position. The successful technical associate will develop and enhance web-based health and management information systems for beef and swine producers and their advisors. Experience with web-based information search systems (such as Google and Pub-Med) is required. Other required skills include the demonstrated ability to identify main points regarding health control and disease management in scientific and production literature for swine and beef production industries. Also required is the ability to clearly summarize this information (create a précis or abstract of this information) for the audience of livestock producers. The associate will need to work with limited supervision and interact periodically with the committees (VIDO Technical Groups). The ability to manipulate images (eg. Photoshop), understand beef and/or swine production issues, and function in both official languages would be additional assets.
