Q&A with Dr. John McKinnon -- Impact of ethanol and biofuel production

With the rapid expansion of the ethanol industry, cattle producers are being forced to anticipate its impacts on their production costs.

Dr. John McKinnon holds the Saskatchewan Beef Industry Chair at the University of Saskatchewan. From a discussion with Dr. McKinnon, the VIDO Beef Technical Group developed an overview of the impact of ethanol on the beef industry. The Q&A document, available on the VIDO Web site, ranges from background on the ethanol industry to tips for incorporating by-products into cattle feed. The document is available for reprint and distribution with acknowledgement of source.
